Paul Sturgess “WOW Basketball” Visit

We were delighted to welcome Paul Sturgess to our school on Monday 16th March for his inspiring WOW Basketball Workshop.

Paul, a former member of the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters and officially recognised as the tallest professional basketball player in the world, brought energy, excitement and a powerful message to every part of the day.

The day began with a whole-school assembly, where Paul shared his personal journey, speaking honestly about the challenges he has faced and how he has learned to embrace what makes him unique. His message about confidence, resilience and using our differences as strengths really resonated with the children.

Throughout the day, each class took part in high-energy basketball workshops. Pupils developed their skills in dribbling, teamwork and coordination, all while having great fun. The sessions were inclusive, engaging and full of memorable moments, with plenty of smiles and laughter along the way.

Paul has delivered these “WOW Basketball Days” to schools across the country, inspiring thousands of children through sport and storytelling. It was clear to see why, his enthusiasm, encouragement and positive outlook made a lasting impression on everyone.

It was a fantastic day for our school community, and one that the children will be talking about for a long time.
